Meet indie Author of the month:
S.K. Putt
Each month we introduce you to one of our wonderful independently published authors. What’s an indie author you ask? It’s someone who has self-published their own book. It’s a massive undertaking and so, so impressive! But it’s hard too, without the support of a traditional publisher and PR agent getting your work into the public eye is tough.
So we are shining a light on these super authors each month to introduce you to their work, which you might otherwise be unfamiliar with!
This month, we sat down with S.K. Putt who writes cyberpunk, sci-fi and fantasy. You can shop his books at the bottom of the page or pop in store and pick one (or two!) up.

1. Who are you, and what do you write about?
I’m a local indie author from Mount Martha. In 2025, I published the novel PARALYZE, followed by a sequel novella, DIGITAL RAVENS, which is set in the same series. I enjoy exploring themes of consciousness, AI, what it means to be human, and the importance of embracing our flaws. I also have a Norse-Viking fantasy novel and novella, The Kinslayer and A Reckless Courage, that dives into the fantasy genre.

2. What’s the most unhinged writing habit you have that you’d never put in a “How to Be an Author” guide?
I’m a very visually driven person, so I actually need to have a cover made or at least a mock-up, or even some images related to the story I’m writing, right there with my manuscript as I type. It’s like a guide for me, oddly enough. Having those visuals helps me stay focused and inspired
as I work through the words.
3. What’s the strangest real-life place or moment that accidentally shaped your story?
The opening chapter of PARALYZE came to me in a dream. I basically manifested or wrote it in my sleep, and as soon as I woke up, I had to get it all down on my laptop.
4. If you could meet one of your characters in real life, who would it be and why?
I’d love to meet Ace (aka Ice) Clester from DIGITAL RAVENS in a British Pub. He’s a middle-aged Netrunner, football fanatic, and a UK bloke who would definitely be a blast to have a night out with.
5. When you’re not writing, what are you doing instead?
I’m a husband and father of two beautiful children, which takes up a lot of my time. I’m also the National Logistics Manager for a building supplies company. My wife would say I’m a notorious doomscroller, which I hate to admit is true. In my spare time, I love going to the gym, reading books or manga, and playing on my PS5.

In the neon-drenched world of Echo City, a simmering angst brews between the lost ways of religion, unshackled from centuries of dogma, and the modern threats posed by technology that risks erasing what it means to be human. Jasper, a seasoned netrunner, stumbles upon a secret that could unravel the very fabric of this reality, drawing him into the orbit of commercial greed.
After thirty years running the net, Ace, AKA “ICE” Clester is semii-retired in Southampton. He’s got enough creds stashed to keep the lights on, but he still takes the odd run-not for money, but to remind the world he’s still around. Then a job hits him like a freight train-a rare score across the atlantic in Echo City. It’s messy, dangerous, and exactly the kind of trouble that pulls him back under the big league’s neon lights.
